"Seat Him Now"

Jan 20, 2010

The crowd gathered at Senator Elect Scott Brown’s campaign headquarters during his acceptance speech last night clearly understood that this victory for the Republican Party (and the American people) could not have come at a more critical time.

With the Democrats continuing to try to force any semblance of a reform plan that they can piece together through Congress, the election of Brown to the Senate was the roadblock Republicans were hoping for, as it takes away the 60 votes needed to pass health care legislation in the Senate.

While the Republican Senatorial victory in Massachusetts may be historic (the first since 1972) it should not be surprising to anyone who is paying attention to the direction the Democrats are steering this country. Recent polls show that only 38% of Americans favor the current Democrat health care reform plan. The Democrats are, not surprisingly, trying to write off the MA loss as an isolated incident and insisting that health care reform will still pass in the coming weeks.

Recently Nancy Pelosi was quoted as saying, “Let’s remove all doubt that we will have health care one way or another. Back to the drawing board means a great big zero for the American people.” Well it seems that the American people disagree and that we all owe a great big thank you to the voters of Massachusetts for standing up on behalf of the country and shouting a resounding “No” to the Democrats in Washington.
